Mission

Christ Episcopal Preschool is a ministry of Christ Episcopal Church.  Our mission is to provide a positive, caring, Christian environment where children learn to explore the world around them.  We lovingly guide children to develop a positive self-image while building social skills in a school setting.

Philosophy

Based on a theory that children learn through play, classroom routines encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation and reinforcement through repetition.  Schedules are designed, which balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.

Recognizing that children grow in predictable stages, we treat each child as an individual, working from the level each child has attained and moving forward one step at a time.  We teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own state of development and helping them to feel success without pressure.

Christ Episcopal Preschool is committed to offering a stimulating educational environment with a Christian emphasis for each student.  With a small student to teacher ratio we assure you a wonderful preschool experience for you and your child.

Enrichment

In addition to our daily curriculum, CEP students are offered weekly opportunities for learning through music, movement, and more!

  • Music: Music enrichment classes are taught by Stefanie McGuire.  Stephanie has over 15 years experience teaching children music in the Tuscaloosa community.  One and two year classes have 30 minutes of instruction weekly and three and four year classes have 45 minutes of instruction weekly.
  • Gymnastics: Gymnastics lessons are taught in our gym by instructors from Tumbling Tides.  This is an optional activity that is billed on monthly statements ($25 per month).
  • Joyful Noise: Our three and four year olds are able to participate once a week (12:15-12:45) in a music program lead by Christ Episcopal Church's Music Director, Karen Nicolosi.
  • Graceful Gatherings:  An optional story time is held in the childrens' library every other Thursday for three and four year olds.
